November - leek
Although leek can be harvested all year round, it‘s typically regarded by many as a winter veg. And it’s no wonder, as it‘s used to add flavour to many a winter soup.
But leek is also particularly good for boosting the immune system. Along with a whole host of vitamins, it also contains potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium.
By the way, there’s a great little trick for preparing leek: cut the stalk lengthways without cutting all the way through. This prevents it from falling apart, yet allows it to be washed and later chopped.
In addition to soup, leek can also be used for many other great dishes – like our tasty cigarillos. Beautifully presented, they’re not only pleasing to the eye but, thanks to the feta, leek and mint filling, they’re also a delight on the palate.
