Fungi are the future, and Marcel van der Heijden is a leading explorer of their exciting universe. He is a professor of agroecology and plant microbiome interactions at the University of Zurich, is based at Agroscope, and is also an associate professor of mycorrhizal ecology at Utrecht University. His focus is to improve the sustainability of agroecosystems through state-of-the-art soil ecological engineering.
