Eric Pinto
Soil Ecologist, Bold Explorer & Passionate Chef
Eric Pinto is a soil ecologist, bold explorer and passionate chef. Originally from Chile, he discovered his passion for microbes through the delicious taste of tomatoes and fermented foods he encountered as a boy during summers in the countryside, which led him on his explorations. Expeditions to the Atacama Desert, to active volcanoes or to wild Patagonia are as much a part of his story as his academic career in bioengineering, biogeography and soil ecology. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, he has developed unique skills in reading the patterns of the invisible half of nature - microorganisms - and making them visible to a wider audience. In 2020, he co-founded "Terrabiom" to discover the value of soil and regenerative management for healthy soils and communities.
