Savoy cabbage, white cabbage, red cabbage
Savoy cabbage, white cabbage and red cabbage all store well, which is why cabbage – in addition to bread – has long been regarded as one of our most important foodstuffs.

Did you know that savoy cabbage is in season for most of the year?
There is a summer and winter variety, and they differ both in the way they look and taste. The summer variety with its milder flavour is usually in season from May onwards. It has light green leaves that are less wrinkled and a head that is more open.

By contrast, the winter savoy cabbage is not available until October. The strong, dark-green, deeply wrinkled leaves form a dense head and its flavour is earthy, perhaps even slightly bitter.
