Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr., a married couple from renowned winemaking families, together run and manage the Venus La Universal winery in the Catalan Montsant region. With their Clos Martinet wines, Sara is gradually reducing the use of wood, experimenting with alternatives like ceramic containers, and exploring extreme altitudes of over 1000m with the Els Escurçons vineyard. Her purist wines age exceptionally well in Priorat. According to Die Zeit, Sara Pérez is considered to be the most influential woman in Spanish winemaking.
