For the opening of this year’s symposium, we welcome Paul Luu, Secretary General of the “4 per 1000” initiative for food security and climate, which has been active since 2016. The initiative aims to increase the carbon content of agricultural soils by 0.4% per year. Through sustainable soil management, the goal is to sequester CO₂ in the long term, enhance soil fertility, and improve food security. “4 per 1000” exemplifies the pragmatic approach of Soil to Soul when it comes to combating climate change through soil life.
This view of global interconnections will be complemented by René Estermann from the City of Zurich’s Office for Environment and Health, who will provide an up-to-date report on the city’s nutrition strategy. It shows how the city is implementing concrete measures to promote healthy, climate-friendly, and future-proof nutrition for all. An inspiring kick-off with fascinating insights from both an international and a local perspective!
This event is presented in collaboration with Umwelt- und Gesundheitsschutz Stadt Zürich: blank.
