Permaculture as a Model for the Future – The Auenhof of Marcus Pan

Marcus Pan, a certified permaculture designer, has created a special place with the Auenhof in Feldbach (ZH): a learning and demonstration farm for permaculture. Beyond ecological agriculture, a future-oriented system is emerging here in which humans, animals, and plants live together in balance.

The farm is designed and continuously developed according to the principles of permaculture. This means: cycles are closed, soil fertility is promoted, diversity is cultivated, and natural processes are used to create a stable, self-regulating system. Bees, chickens, pigs, sheep, ducks, and goats are part of this living organism, as are a wide variety of vegetables and fruit crops, herbs, and the cultivation of edible mushrooms.

Thus, the Auenhof is not only a farm, but also a place of learning – an academy for permaculture design. Since 2012, Marcus Pan has been teaching knowledge and skills in permaculture through courses and internships – hands-on and experiential. His vision: to show that regenerative agriculture works, and that permaculture goes far beyond cultivation – extending into energy supply, architecture, social structures, and a cooperative economy.

The Auenhof is therefore an inspiring example of what agriculture in harmony with nature and society can look like: productive, adaptable, and sustainable.
